Why Coffee Is So Popular

Nine out of ten Americans take in caffeine in one of its many forms at least every day. One of the most common ways caffeine is ingested in through coffee, which is certainly one of the most popular drinks in the world. Some people love it and some people rant and rave about the serious dangers of coffee and caffeine. And yet thousands and millions of people drink coffee every single day, some people two or three or more times. What is it that makes coffee so popular?

Many people think that coffee is addictive, and this may be partially true. After ingesting the caffeine in coffee every single day for a few weeks or more the body comes to depend on it. Your body gets used to the caffeine and the energy boost it provides, and it therefore works it into the routine of how it runs. So when the body doesn't get coffee most people go through withdrawals, experiencing headaches, crabbiness, and even nausea when they don't get their fix. The addictiveness of coffee is very minimal compared to the addictiveness of other products, cigarettes for example, but it is still addictive and this most likely contributes somewhat to coffee's popularity.

Not only that, but coffee tastes great. Some people disagree, as they think coffee is bitter and unpleasant, but most people who drink coffee daily drink it because they enjoy the flavour. Coffee simply has a flavour which is pleasant to taste. Everyone loves coffee flavoured ice cream, candy, and desserts, and yet a cup of coffee is just a good of a treat for many as any of those other things. Coffee is pleasant and enjoyable, and this also contributes to the popularity of coffee.

Finally, coffee has health benefits that the body can use. Yes, coffee really is good for you, in moderation of course. A good amount of coffee can help your cardiac health and some of the heart related processes in your body. Coffee also stimulates your endorphins, which cause feelings of happiness in your brain and body. Not only that but coffee has been known to have certain facets that fight carcinogens in the body. Although many people tout the negative aspect of coffee, these negative aspects are really just the side effects of drinking too much coffee and ingesting too much caffeine. When taken in moderation coffee can be quite healthy and good for you.

Coffee is simply one of those things which we all love to love. The smell of coffee is usually heavenly, and enough to get many people feeling better and happier. Coffee is so popular for a variety of reasons including but not limited to the ones listed above, and in almost all the countries of the world it is enjoyed as a delicious treat. If you don't like coffee, well then, don't drink it. You won't be alone, as there are many out there who don't like it as well. But if you do like it, you can join the ranks of the millions who love their daily cup.
